Learning Goals:

Participants will understand the Gestalt approach to contemporary psychopathologies

Participants will apply basic self theory and field theory concepts in therapeutic contexts

Participants will identify and discuss examples of psychopathology from a phenomenological–Gestalt perspective


Isaías Plascencia, pronouns he/him, is a gay Mexican  psychologist (Bachelor’s degree), thanatologist (diploma), gestalt therapist (masters degree) & university professor (masters degree in gestalt-humanistic education specialization in human development). He was born and raised in Tijuana living the border experience and has had the opportunity to construct his career surrounding his life with great people from different backgrounds and cultures: the Mexican gestalt therapy school (IHPG, INTEGRO), the Spanish gestalt school (CTP), the Italian gestalt school (IHCC) and relational gestalt therapy (PGI). With 14 years of therapeutic experience and 9 years of experience as a group facilitator and university professor. Often considers this mixture of different points of view as an important lens to see and co-construct relationships (networking, therapy and social life) and uses art as a fundamental tool during therapy work.  His hobbies are hanging out with his partner, cat and besties, drinking coffee and listening to Amy and Lana while feeling his feelings.


Course meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs. CE completion certificates will be awarded after participants complete the course evaluation after speaker presentation. CAMFT Approved Provider #62299

This course is designed for mental health professionals working with trauma survivors, individuals with depression, clients with attachment injuries, and those who experience emotional dysregulation.
