About the Program

Do you want to help high-risk populations and under-served communities through counseling? Real World Mentors

Classes are facilitated by a faculty of professional therapists who assist the paraprofessional counselor in understanding the counseling relationship. Boundary issues and communication skills are explored through role-play and interactive dialogue. Topic-related issues are also explored. CCC provides training, supervision and support for paraprofessional counselors who are already involved, or are interested in helping the high-risk population and under-served communities.

When We Meet

Class meets once a week on Zoom (or a similar teleconference service)  Fridays, 9:30 AM – 1 PM for six months. The first 1.5 hours is a hands-on learning session, followed by a 1.5 hour process group session. Learning sessions teach the basics of counseling through role play, dialogue and in-depth discussions. Process groups are smaller, more intimate sessions in which participants experience counseling in a safe group environment where they can express frustrations, ask questions, seek comfort or just talk about a difficult issue they are facing.
